Getting Your Yard Ready for Spring
Rake & mow your lawn before applying any chemicals to make sure that it is in the best state possible to receive treatments. Use a weed inhibitor on your lawn to remove weeds that will have grown during the winter. Many fertilizers have inhibitors mixed in, a great opportunity to feed your lawn and get rid of weeds.
Early spring is a great time to prune back any plants or shrubs that may have grown wild in the winter months. Be sure to remove any possible diseased areas of the trees. A pre-emergent herbicide should be applied at the end of March/beginning of April to prevent summertime weeds from attacking your plants.
Before planting anything, make sure the area is clear of debris and well-fertilized to promote the best health for new plants. Start researching what kind of plants you might want to plant in the spring. Be sure to choose plants suitable for the site. Ferns, grasses, and certain flowers work best in the shade while myrtles and violets work best in the sun. |
